Kurt Donald Cobain was born on February 0, 167. He was a very energetic child and received a guitar at the age of 1. This guitar, and his poetry which was inspired by his misunderstood feelings, fueled him to create the greatest music of all time. His attraction to Courtney Love Harrison was a mysterious and violent one. Whenever they met, they would either wrestle in a bar or burn each other with cigarettes. Soon enough, they married and their only child, Frances Bean Cobain, was born in 1. Frances was the love of his life and he would never bring her any pain. Kurt and Courtney were having marital problems mainly because Courtney felt she was not receiving the attention she deserved for her band Hole. She felt this because her husband was the infamous Kurt Cobain lead singer of Nirvana. Kurt had never asked for fame or attention. In fact he was planning on "breaking-up" the band and renaming themselves to remain in the underground world of music. But he did not get a chance to do so, neither did he have the chance of seeing the love of his life, Frances, grow up. He had had major problems with drugs and had escaped from approximately 7 rehab centers. The last one he escaped from was on April 1, 14. Seven days later, on April 8 at 840AM, his body was found by an electrician at the Cobain house in Seattle, Washington. Autopsies prove his death was no later than on the evening of April 5. Next to his body was a note to his fans, a shotgun, and a box of heroin syringes. It was proclaimed suicide by the authorities but too many factors could lead to later proving it was not suicide whatsoever. Those factors are the validity and interpretation of the "suicide" letter, the amount of heroin in his system, and Courtney Love's involvement with the death. Kurt Cobain was a loving father and would never leave his beautiful daughter and fans through suicide.

The so-called suicide letter of Kurt Cobain was greatly misinterpreted. After careful research by Tom Grant, investigator of this case and supporter on the theory that it was murder, the letter found was a letter addressed to the fans. If Kurt were going to kill himself, why would he not address the letter to his daughter and wife? In fact, the letter was just a retirement letter, or draft retirement letter, to the fans. The second letter, which Courtney Love has hidden from investigators, was addressed to Courtney and stated that he wanted to leave her and Seattle. In both letters nothing even comes close to stating suicide. Courtney hid this letter because it revealed the true meaning of the first one at the scene that he was quitting the music business, he wanted a divorce, and he was leaving Seattle. How could the first letter be by his dead body and the second one left on Courtney's bed a week earlier? Because the first letter was harder to interpret, so it was planted at the scene, and of course made public. It was, in fact, written before the one he gave to Courtney. Grant did some research on how the letter might have been forged considering the fact that it was written in two different handwritings. But after further handwriting analysis, it was found out that Kurt wrote the letter and that the two handwritings must have been from another time he was flirting with the affects of heroin and his hand became lazy and sloppy. Also if it were forged, first of all, it would have stated that he would commit suicide so there would be no room for speculation, second, the letter would have been short so that as little handwriting as possible was available for comparison, and third, a forged letter would have been written to his wife and daughter, not the fans. If the letter were forged, it would have been easier to reopen the case and have some evidence of murder.

The amount of heroin in Cobain's system was three times the lethal dose, even for experienced users and severe addicts. Kurt's body would not have been able to withhold so much heroin considering the fact that he only weighed 0 pounds. When his body was found, his blood contained 1.5 milligrams of morphine per liter. Now this does not mean he had only 1.5 milligrams of heroin as most journalists have mistaken. It was per liter and it was three days after it had been injected. A blood level of 1.5 mg/L indicates that he was induced with 5mg-40mg of heroin. This would lead to immediate death. Who injected him is quite unclear. But if he did inject himself with that amount of heroin the syringe would have still been in his arm, not in a box. With that amount of heroin in his system he would be unable to lift neither a shotgun nor a pen. Nor could he focus on writing. Also, the heroin syringes were neatly placed in a box, which he definitely would not have the coordination for. Another peculiar fact is that there were no clear fingerprints on the gun or syringes, which means the evidence has obviously been tampered with either by the killers or the cops, who seem to be on Courtney's side that it was suicide. The police were very quick to label the letter a suicide letter. Cobain's credit cards were also stolen and his wallet was on the floor. This definitely is enough evidence to prove someone had something to do with it. So basically, if it was suicide, Kurt Cobain must have shot himself with enough heroin to kill fifty cows, write a "suicide" letter, pick up a shotgun while was dead, because he died instantly from the dosage, shoot himself, die again, come back from the dead, place the syringes neatly in the box, wipe the fingerprints off the gun, and die once more. This obviously is neither a very valid nor reasonable argument.

The facts all lead to the fact that Courtney Love had much to do with the murder. Courtney did not have much to be happy about with her band, Hole, failing on the charts, and her husband being the infamous Kurt Cobain. She had very little attention and obviously it bothered her enough to have him removed from the picture. Tom Grant's theory goes as follows Love noticed that Kurt was missing. She hired Tom Grant to locate him. The key word is locate, which could mean either dead or alive. She told him he might be on a plane to Michael Stipe's place, singer of R.E.M. He had actually flown to Seattle to their Lake Washington home on Saturday, April nd. Calls were being made to and from Michael Dewitt at Courtney's residence. Michael Dewitt was a boyfriend of Courtney's who was extremely jealous. Courtney felt bad and hired him as their nanny and house sitter. Kurt and Michael had an uneasy friendship. Michael was just one of Courtney's puppets who supplied her with drugs and money. Then Courtney told her friend to plant a phony story that she had had a drug overdose and was in the hospital. Kurt's so-called "suicide" was supposed to occur that Saturday night. The phony OD story by Courtney was just a part of Courtney's plan to manipulate the media with a "suicide pact" story designed to get her sympathy and attention as she stole Kurt's millions of fans. But the unexpected happened; Kurt left the house and was not there for his appointment with "suicide." When Courtney found out the hit was not made, she panicked. Then she found out he bought another ticket out of Seattle. Then, on Sunday the rd, she hired Grant to "locate" him. She, of course, told him he was suicidal and that she knew "he was going to kill himself." On Monday when Grant found out that Kurt had been at the Lake Washington residence on the nd, he wanted to get surveillance cameras up in the residence. Courtney mysteriously refused. Turns out the place that he had been seen came out to be the place he was found dead. When he was found, Courtney asked to talk with Grant but he refused, already having suspicion of the plan. The fact that he would not speak to her made her uneasy and her fears were confirmed when he wrote her his suspicions 0 days later. But her job was finished and she could continue her rise to fame.

Do my essay on Kurt Cobain: Suicide or Murder CHEAP !

From these theories, it is obvious to the reasonably minded person that Kurt Cobain had not committed suicide. His best friend, Dylan Carson, his attorney, Rosemary Carroll, a doctor who treated him, police officers who went to his home earlier, doctors and patients at rehab centers, and everyone who knew him or had seen him recently, including Kurt himself, said he was NOT suicidal! The retirement letter Courtney has hidden is yet to be found. And when any little evidence is found Tom Grant will reopen the case. He guarantees that someone will be convicted of murder; it will just be a matter of time. And then we will have the answers to where the letter is, where are the fingerprints, who injected Kurt, where are his credit cards are, and how Courtney could possibly testify with all this evidence against her. Any information on the case could be placed on www.nirvanaclub.com but keep in mind that a lot of advances have been made so only new helpful information is urged for. We must fight for the spirit of a mystical, misunderstood idol of a decade so that fans will receive closure and revenge for that horrid day in music history.

"False Charges"

The court system is corrupt. People get sentenced for wrong accusing, for something the person did not even commit the crime that they were accused of. But it seems to me that, that is the system today. Sometimes the person lying gets caught up in their own lie and gets sentenced for their lying to get the innocent arrested or convicted for a crime committed by someone else or even the person accusing them, you could be the lire yourself.

Some of this type of theme relates to the Crucible a book we are reading in our English class, and I will explain how it was carried out in the story, of how witchery and lying of people being accused got them hung or executed.

Roffman

In the Crucible this theme relates to the trial for the women committing the acts of witchery in the woods near the town. These acts of witchery were carried out by only a few of the women but not all of them should be guilty, but in fact I think that none of them should be guilty because that is what they believe in and should not be punished for it. These women lied to protect themselves against the system (The Court), and not to be found guilty they could of got off.

But they lied before the court and got sentenced to an execution; they were sentenced to be hung before the town. John Proctor was there to protect the women from being accused of these acts of witchery. Often people who lie in court before a judge try to save themselves, but most of the time they will get caught in their own lie and another whole court case will be scheduled. Which will probably bring the wrongful people to justice in most cases.

Roffman

In the court case with John Proctor and the court John lies to get the children and women that practiced witchery in the town off the hook from being executed. In this case John was trying to explain to the court that the acts of witchery should not be a crime in the town, which they live, he thinks its what they believe in so they should be allowed to without being of a crime.

It's what they want to believe in and what the want to believe. So they should be killed for committing acts in which they believe, is what Proctor was trying to explain. In the Crucible the children did not get accused because the court found out about the lying of the older women, but although the children were saved the older women were not so fortunate. They were hung by the order of the court.

The Court is a very powerful force in our community and society today, as a matter of fact the court decides what the decisions of the law is and what consequences people get for violating laws. Some people accused

Roffman 4

And found guilty for a crime that they did not commit. This was witnessed in the Crucible many times in the court. As I stated before some of the women in the witchery acts were not guilty and were executed as all the other women were. They were still given a fair trial. But you have to think; American Constitution states that a fair trial must be given before sentencing someone. But think about it, America must not be that fair if people sentenced for an act they did not commit. The court system must be really corrupt.

Vietnam? What can I say, even though Laos and Vietnam are practically the same there's still a lot that I don't know about the country, the people or the government. Needless to say I have lots of Vietnamese friends that are here but most of them are born here and haven't really been back so they itself don't know the country or there heritage that well.

Vietnam is located in South East Asia right next to Laos. The country like Laos I would presume that most of the people there are Buddhist since most of the Asian countries are. The country is a third world country or (still dev eloping country) with lots of poverty and prostitution. The reason for this I think is because the company doesn't have manufactures to build and export things to different places. Most of its people are farmers that try to survive living on pennies while the government controls most of its cash flow throughout the country. I know that the people there get so poor that there parents would send out young girls into prostitution to bring more money to give to the family, and throughout the streets there are people begging for money. I believe that the government see the poverty but they wont do anything about it because there the ones that are rich why would they care about there own people.

I talk to my Vietnamese friends a lot about Vietnam even seen some pictures of some places and they look really nice. I would of thought that Vietnam would be a place that has nothing but farms and a just a bunch of land. In the few pictures that Ive seen it looks like there's a lot. They have skyscrapers now ever things to do like go sky diving or bungee jumping. I heard that there was more to do then what I thought. I thought Vietnam would be a place where I can only enjoy peace go animal watching and doing those kinds of things a place for older people. Being a teen I would like to see clubs and people going wild. My friend went years ago and she told me that they do have a night life and that people really do go crazy and wild. I guess my assumptions were wrong.

When I look at Vietnam I see poor people that do anything for money, food, or water. I have an assumption that they eat everything there from dogs to snakes. I think the only thing that I haven't heard of them eating were humans. From this I get that the people there are savage beasts that eat everything in sight to keep themselves alive (kind of sad in a way). My perception of Vietnam are they don't have asphalt roads but dirt roads, they have outside markets everyday that sell the most unusual things like skulls and crap like that. I also see that the government doesn't care about the poor people so I think the same concept goes here when I say the rich get richer and the poor get poorer. Those who have money are able to pay for school and become something of themselves and those who don't become baggers that beg for food and money. Another vision I have is that everyone has motorcycles over there because they don't have proper roads to take them to places which cars can't go through. I think that the people in the country who don't have much technology in that part of the country still ride there bulls around to get them from place to place. I see lots of farmers on there rice fields working to get money and be able to feed there kids.

Even though I have a lot of assumptions there are still many many things that I would like to know about Vietnam. What language does your country inhabit? Do you guys speak pigeon I get this pigeon term from the Hawaiians when I was there? The pigeon language comes from a mix of different languages and I was wondering if the Vietnamese language was the same or not? Have you seen some cases where you seen a child get beat before? I heard that sometimes the fathers after a long hard day out on the farm gets irritated and takes his anger out on his wife and children sometimes. Has that happened to you before? The big thing that I would like to know is about the Vietnam War. Do you know anyone who was a veteran to the Vietnam War? Is there still damage from the war? What kind of things did the Vietnamese do during the war? Being from Laos I know that there are a lot of temples there, is Vietnam kind of the same way, they believe in Buddha and so they build massive temples for him, do they do that too over there? What kind of things do people do for fun over there? You guys play sports? If so what kind? Are there animals over there that are different from those in the United States? I want to know about the school system there. Do you have to pay to attend schools from k-1 unlike here? I know that in college Im pretty sure you do. I wanted to know what kinds of things are taught in the school system is it the same over here? I heard that they spend a lot of time learning the English language why is that do you knows?

Well these assumptions and questions are what I'm going to be asking when I do my interview I hope some of my assumptions are correct and wont make me look so much like a fool. I hope that I get a better understanding of Vietnam and its people and I can't wait until the interview.

The ancient kingdom of Mali began as a small state that broke away from Ghana during its decline. It formed in the early 100s and gradually took over neighboring powers until, by the end of that century its territory included all of the old kingdom of Ghana. During this early period, one of Mali's kings, Sundiata Keita, did much to organize the country. He established a permanent army and divided Mali into provinces, each one administrated by a general whose responsibility was to keep the peace and provide food for the people. Sundiata used his armies to clear land and support Mali's agriculture, and he reopened trade routes across the Sahara that had earlier been cut off by war. Agriculture flourished under his rule, and farmers grew surplus crops that the government collected as tax.

Another famous king of Mali was Mansa Musa. Musa was a Muslim and introduced Islamic culture to the country. In 14, he made a ,000 mile journey to Makkah, and increased the prestige and power of Mali. He had 1,000 servants on the journey, each one carrying bars of gold. And he gave away much of this gold to poor people along the way. He brought back a Spanish architect to his capital at Timbuktu. That city became a center for Muslim art and architecture. Eventually, Islamic influence improved general education, written records of business and law, and trade.

In 17 the famous Arab explorer, Iben Battuta traveled through Timbuktu on his final journey of a lifetime of trips (totaling about 75,000 miles).

In the 10s Berbers from the north began raiding Mali's territory and took over Timbuktu. In the south, people living in the kingdom rebelled because they had lost control of their own territories. Mali gradually lost power and by the 1500s had split up into several small states.

Application Service Providers

The term Application Service Provider describes companies that supply software applications and software-related services over the Internet. The Application Service Provider (ASP) owns and operates a software application, as well as operates and maintains the servers and employees the people needed to maintain the application.

Subscribing to an ASP allows a company to avoid the purchasing, installing and supporting, and upgrading expenses that go along with software applications. Businesses choose to subscribe to an ASP based on economic factors driven by frequency of use and the cost of entry and maintenance much in the same way a business chooses other service providers, such as shipping or electrical companies. Businesses use shipping and electrical companies to provide services to them because it would be far too expensive for a company to operate its own distribution network as well as generate electricity for its self. Therefore, businesses use theses service providers to lower the incremental cost of these processes much in the same way subscribing to an ASP lowers the cost of software (1).

The advantages of using an ASP are extremely attractive for small businesses that want to take advantage high cost, specialized software. Subscribing to an ASP allows the company to be able to do more with less infrastructure and fewer people, thus allowing a company with smaller resources to have a competitive edge. In addition, ASPs also companies to take advantage of the pay-per-use concept. This allows a company to pay the ASP a subscription price based on the amount of time the software is actually used instead of the company paying an extremely high up-front purchasing cost for the software. ASPs also provide companies with the advantage of using the software anywhere, no matter what computer they are working with, and continuous upgrades. Both of these qualities are immensely important for companies that own and work with many computers. Even what may seem like a small upgrade can turn out to be expensive when a vast number of computers are involved in the upgrade process, and by providing these systems online companies do not have to download the software to every computer, saving time and money ().

Having an exceptional accounting system is essential to a successful business operation. However, because of the high costs of operating advanced accounting software, many small businesses have not had the opportunity to use full-fledged accounting systems. By subscribing to an ASP and having the option to rent, rather than buy, small businesses have the opportunity to take full advantage of highly technical accounting applications (1). Many ASPs exists that are aimed toward companies that need to maintain accounting records consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. This software is designed in order to satisfy reporting requirements dictated by investors, lenders, managers, and tax agencies ().

The process of companies being able to use advance accounting software at an economical advantage has changed the way companies interact with their accountants, and in some circumstances made it possible for companies not to have to hire accountants at all. Because the applications of the accounting software are online when using an ASP, businesses can allow their accountants to access files or data from a remote location. This is an extremely important aspect for systems available through ASPs. Having a company's files available to their accountant from the accountant's office would decrease the travel expenses incurred by accounting firm, thus, lowering the expenses of accounting services. Having a company's files readily available through the ASP system would also give the accounting firm an increased sense of assurance that they have access to all information. By using ASPs to obtain accounting software businesses can take advantage of the best possible tools to manage growth.

NetLedger is one of the leaders in ASP provided accounting software. It is a completely intergraded system that uses the Internet to manage all aspects of small business, including accounting, e-commerce, bills, payroll, purchasing, and more ().

Although subscribing to an ASP seems like the perfect solution for a company who lacks the resources to purchase highly technical accounting software, it does have its disadvantages. The most important downfall of the ASP industry for business is its lack of a specified regulator. ASPs are not currently regulated by any worldwide code of ethics, privacy, security, or certification. Accounting ASPs are dependent upon customer confidence, and therefore, may experience difficulty in attracting new clients. Unless the ASP industry can form a uniformed code of regulations and an organization to enforce these regulations the use of ASPs for online accounting may dwindle ().

The concept of renting software online is an exceptional idea for any kind of business or business process. Using an ASP system to obtain advanced accounting software increases the profitability and efficiency of both the company and the accounting firm providing services, because of the advance information available to the business.

Please note that this sample paper on ASPs is for your review only. In order to eliminate any of the plagiarism issues, it is highly recommended that you do not use it for you own writing purposes. In case you experience difficulties with writing a well structured and accurately composed paper on ASPs, we are here to assist you. Your cheap custom college paper on ASPs will be written from scratch, so you do not have to worry about its originality.

In 1, Hitler came to power and became Chancellor. One of his main aims was the abolition of the Treaty of Versailles. The Treaty was a constant remainder of their defeat in the First Word War and they felt humiliated, so, he wanted to reverse this. As regards Germany's territories, Hitler wanted to unite Austria with Germany and get back the territories taken away by the Treaty of Versailles. To show Germany's expansion we may talk about the Political Union with Austria an Germany's invasion of Czechoslovakia. In 15, Germany accepted its Western Borders as set out in the Treaty of Versailles, this was established in the Locarno Treaty. Besides, Germany accepted that the Rhineland should remain a demilitarised zone. However, in 16, Hitler moved his troops into the Rhineland. Since 1, he increased his armed forces that had once been reduced in the Treaty of Versailles. The same year Germany left the League.

Since the Manchurian and Abyssinian crisis, the League became powerless. The leaders of the League had shown more interest in their own issues. When Hitler moved his troops into the Rhineland, the League of Nations was concentrated on the Abyssinian crisis, making things easier to Hitler. The failure of the League was also shown in the Spanish Civil War. Hitler tried out his aircraft force and bombed civilian population. The League did nothing.

From 15 Britain left Germany do what she wanted. This policy was known as the "Policy of Appeasement". Britain believed that it was a great opportunity to defeat Communism as Hitler was anti-communist and wanted to stop the spread and influence of Communism in the World. Furthermore, Britain wanted to avoid another war and they assumed that Germany would became a peacefully nation again. France was completely against this policy. We have to remember that France was completely damaged and wanted to cripple Germany.

Stalin was worried about Germany taking Soviet's land since Hitler came to power. In 14 Stalin joined the League. Nonetheless, the League was powerless. Britain and France did nothing as regards Germany's rearmament. In 1, a Nazi-Soviet Pact was signed they had agreed not to attack one another. There was a secret and very important clause to divide Poland between them. In September, the German army invaded Poland from West and the Soviet forces attacked from the East. But, to Hitler's surprise, Britain and France held their promises to protect the member countries of the League of Nations and declared war on Germany.

Write my Essay on Hitler´s Actions

I believe that the strongest actions led by Hitler was the Rearmament and the Remilitarisation of the Rhineland. Hitler knew that many people in Britain felt that ha had a right to station his troops in the Rhineland and he was fairly confident that Britain would not intervene. Besides, none of the French leaders were prepared to take France to another war. So he just walked over the League of Nations. Since the Rearmament, Hitler became very strong, powerful. In addition, Britain had already helped to dismantle the Treaty by signing a naval agreement with Hitler allowing Germany to increase its navy.

The weakest action of the rest of the world was the Policy of Appeasement. Hitler was able to do whatever she wanted, not only against Communism but everything. Imagine the case of the Sudetenland in which Germany invaded Czechoslovakia. Although this policy ended, it was too late, Germany had already gained too much power.

It's dark and it's gloomy; there are people out to kill. Like in the days of ancient Rome, these gladiators are skilled warriors, but with hi-tech weapons. None of them have a conscience. Shadows of men running are seen everywhere. A man pops out from behind a tank of ooze with an enormous gun. Boom! Boom! Shots are fired from across the room. Bullets whiz by, bodies hit the floor until one man is standing. But it's not over until he gets his required amount of kills. Playing the computer game, Unreal Tournament 00, people will experience this feeling. However, computers are not just for playing games; they are used for storing and processing important information. Personal computers have evolved greatly since their invention and require many complex parts to run properly.

Before World War II, if one looked up the word computer in a dictionary, it would have meant a person whom is employed to compute equations (Campbell-Kelly and Aspray ). The first generation of modern computers was developed during World War II. The governments wanted computers to be developed for strategic reasons. In 141, Konrad Zuse, a German Engineer developed a computer called Z, which was used to design missiles and airplanes (Campbell-

Kelly and Aspray 10). The Allied Forces came back strong with their computer Colossus that decoded the Germans messages (LaMorte with Lilly ).

The invention of the transistor made the second generation of computers smaller by removing a large vacuum tube. Ever since then computers have been getting smaller and smaller. Not only were they smaller, but they were faster and more reliable. This new type of computer was used in laboratories for research on atomic energy. The transistor was great, but it made too much heat, which wasn't good for the reactive parts inside (LaMorte with Lilly ). Quartz was later used to make an integrated circuit, which reduced heat and size of computers even more.

In 181, IBM was able to integrate even more components onto chips, which allowed ordinary people to have personal computers or PCs (History of Computers). In 181 Intel came out with the 8088 CPU which had 4.77 megahertz and in the early 10's Intel came out with its Pentium CPU that started at 60 megahertz and nowadays the Pentium 4 is up to .1 gigahertz which is 100 megahertz ("Intel Microprocessor" 1). In 185, Microsoft created the first Windows operating system, which today is the main operating system for personal computers ("History of Computers" 1). Computers have advanced exponentially through history.

Computers keep changing at a rapid pace and the parts are always being upgraded. The main part in a computer would have to be the motherboard also known as a system board. There are a few types of motherboards ATX (the most common layout), mini ATX, and AT. A motherboard is a means of attaching

1555X

all of the peripherals of the computer to the PCI (Peripheral Component Interconnect) slots ("Intel Microprocessors" ). Today most motherboards come with attachments such as sound cards, video cards, and network interface cards (Johnson).

The next important part would have to be the CPU (central processing unit), which is where most of the calculations or work is done (Magid 4). The speed of a processor is measured in megahertz or gigahertz. Of course the higher the megahertz/gigahertz, the faster the computer will run. It sits on top of the motherboard pretty close to the rest of the chips. The two significant brands for some personal computers are AMD and Intel. Today Intel has the most popular CPUs. They are not necessarily the better chipset, but they have the most compatibility. Both AMD and Intel have good quality products each having its own advantages. There are other chips out in the market, but none of them are used for home computers anymore.

The next part to install is the memory. Memory is known as RAM, which stands for random access memory. What the RAM does is hold all of the programs that are being looked upon at the same time temporarily. The most common type of memory today is DIMM (dual in-line memory module) (SL-75DRV User's Manual 17). There are two types of DIMM, DDR SDRAM (Double Data Rate Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory) and SDRAM. The amount of memory in a computer determines how many programs can run at the same time.

1555X 4

The AGP, or accelerated graphics, port is where the video card is installed (SL-75DRV User's Manual 1). The AGP was developed by Intel and was designed for -D graphics (Webopedia.com). A video card displays images on the monitor. Some of the new cards contain memory so that the RAM isn't being locked up by too many images.

The hard disk drive, unlike RAM, keeps saved information even when the computer is turned off (Magid 4). The main type of hard drive used today is IDE (integrated development environment). What happens is that the information is read and is recorded onto a magnetic disk by making magnetic marks on it. Floppy disks also record data the same way. The more gigabytes a hard drive has, the more room there is to store data.

Floppy disk drives and CD-ROM (compact disk, read-only memory) drives are where software can be loaded onto the computer through a disk (Magid 5). The -½ inch floppy disk can hold 1.4 MB (megabytes) and CDs store an average of 700 MB. Floppy disks can be recorded over and over again on the same disk. Today we have CD rewriters, which act as a CD-ROM and can record data from other CDs or record programs from the computer, but reusing the same disk isn't wise because it usually doesn't work. There is also DVD-ROM drive and a DVD rewriter that play DVDs.

Now something is needed to put all of these parts in. Cases come in many shapes and sizes. Some of them are pretty colors and really small, while others are huge and very bland looking. The problem with small cases is that not all motherboards will fit into them. Just about anything will fit in a giant case and

1555X 5

more parts can be added when necessary without everything being crammed together. The main types of cases are mini towers, mid towers, full towers, and server towers (Johnson).

Next a monitor is needed to visualize what a computer can do. When peoples' eyes look at a monitor, two things determine what the quality picture they get. They are dot pitch and frequency. Dot pitch is how close the dots on the screen are together. The better dot pitch, the sharper the image on the screen is. Frequency has to do with how often the screen is renewed. There are two types of monitors Liquid Crystal Display or LCD and is also known as flat screen and Cathode Ray Tube or CRT, which are the big, square ones (Johnson). LCD screens have a lower dot pitch and frequency, but cost more than CRTs because people like the flat screen, which takes up less space.

The mouse is a device that is used to scroll pages and click to start the computers programs. There are a couple types of mice. The main ones are the optical mouse, which uses a laser, the mechanical mouse that uses a ball, and a trackball which is like an upside down mouse (Magid 55). The optical mouse is great because without a ball, it is easier to maneuver and it doesn't always have to be used on an extremely flat surface.

The keyboard performs a critical function for the computer. The standard one that almost everyone uses, is the QWERTY keyboard that was named for the first six letters in the top row (Aspray and Campbell-Kelly 0). QWERTY keyboards were designed so that typist couldn't break the buttons from typing to fast like the buttons on a typewriter. Some companies have come up with

1555X 6

specialty keyboards which can help stop Carpal Tunnel Syndrome like the ergonomic keyboard (Magid 64). On an ergonomic keyboard, the keys have a space right down the middle of the letters and are angled, so that when people type their wrists are in a natural position and there is not too much pressure put on the wrist and fingers (Magid 64).

All of the parts needed to build a computer are put together, What's next? An operating system is needed to run the computer. The operating system is what controls all of the hardware and lets the person using the computer open up files and programs. The two main types of operating systems for personal computers are Windows and Linux (Johnson). There is also an operating system called Lindows, which is like a combination of the two major systems, but it isn't popular at all. Most people prefer Windows because it is more user friendly and it has the most software that's compatible. Windows is good for novice computer users, but the problem with it is that there are always problems to be fixed. With Linux there are less problems and they are easier to fix.

Computers have evolved remarkably since they were created and have many elaborate parts to operate them right. Throughout history computers have changed, the way we live. Almost every household today has a personal computer in it because they are absolutely critical to complete even the smallest tasks. Computers are always changing at a rapid pace helping many people get through their daily lives faster. There are computers in many products today from automobiles, to cameras, to home entertainment systems, and many other electronic components. With the click of a button tremendous things can happen

from e-mailing a buddy, to buying and selling products, to having a good time playing games, and many more things.

There are two important trends in the financial reporting the U.S.'s GAAP and UK's IAS. More and more countries are converting to the International Accounting Standards (IAS). The U.S. should learn the IAS it's the future of financial reporting.

International Accounting Standards Committee (IASC) was formed in June 17. Most countries recognize the need for more uniform standards and that's how IASC was formed. IASC's standard is to work generally for the improvement and harmonization of regulations, accounting standards and procedures relating to the presentation of financial statements. IASC lasted until 001 and then came International Accounting Standards Board. In 174 the first associate members admitted were Belgium, India, Israel, New Zealand, Pakistan and Zimbabwe

In 177 International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) was international professional activates. In 181 IASC got complete control in setting of international accounting standards. Now members of IFAC became members of IASC.

On April 001 the IASC gave up accounting standards responsibilities to IASB. The IASC Foundation is the body of IASB and independent accounting standard setter based in London, UK. IASB has responsibility for setting accounting standards. The IASC Foundation is a non-profit corporation and is privately funded. It has five bodies the Trustees, the IASB, Standards Advisory Council and International Financial Reporting Interpretations Committee. The Trustees oversee the whole organization and raise funds for the organization. The Trustees also select the IASB members. The IASB's board members consist of fifteen and come from nine countries. The Board is devoted to developing in the public interest, clear and enforceable global accounting

standards that require transparent and comparable information in general purpose financial statements. And the Board helps with national accounting standard setters to achieve meeting in accounting standards around the world.

IAS is gaining widespread use and recognition around the world. Many countries already endorse International Accounting Standards as their own without amendment or with little change. The global business community is responding quickly to the IASB's efforts to develop uniform global accounting standards. The European Commission recognized that it couldn't use the U.S. GAAP. It considers that IAS provides a comprehensive set of standards for financial reporting that is albe to serve the needs of the international business. The European Commission thinks that the IAS has the advantage of being developed with an international outlook. The European Commission is progressing proposals that will require all listed companies in the European Union to prepare their consolidated financial statements using IAS. This regulation will require 7000 companies in the Europe Union to unite their financial statements under IAS starting 005. Many leading companies in the European Union already stated their financial reports in agreement with IAS. It is expected that companies with listed debt in the European Union will be required to report IAS results by 007. This new rule will change the accounting procedures for European Union companies; it will not be easy ("IASB").

Many developing and newly industrialized nations like Nigeria and Singapore have adopted IASC standard as their national standards. The most significant international developments are the adoption IAS by at least fifteen new different

countries around the world. European Union, Australian, and Russian companies and others will be required to us IAS in the next few years.

The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) indicated that it would allow foreign companies to use IASC standards in securities offerings in the United States it the IASC met the three conditions. The IASC is making substantial progress with conditions. It is entirely possible that the SEC will accept IASC standards in the near future. If this happens many U.S. companies will petition to use IASC stands instead of U.S. standards. It is better that all companies follow the same standards. Under the IAS users of financial information will find it easier to make comparisons among companies in different countries.

U.S. standards have been criticized for being overly detailed and complex and containing on/off switch rules that worship the form and not the substance of the transactions ("IASB").

The IASB is a set of global accounting standards to provide common financial language for the world's capital markets and make it easier for financial statement users to understand and compare financial information.

Convergence of accounting standards is the centerpiece of the efforts to build a global financial reporting infrastructure. The desire for convergence of accounting standards is greater than ever. Achieving this would greatly aid cross border investing and decision-making.

I have been carrying out some research about teenage drinking. There is an increasing concern about teenagers and their consumption of alcohol so I decided to find out how teenagers get their alcohol, why and where they drink, what the effects and consequences of teenage drinking can be. I also tried to find out what is being done to deal with the problem associated with teenage drinking.

In my written text where and why teenagers drink, I found that teenage drinking is an increasing problem. Most teenagers start drinking because they are bored and/or they want to be in with the crowd. "Teenagers think that if they start drinking they will be accepted by the popular people." In my studies I have found that after the Government passed the law to lower the drinking age from 0 years to 18 years that a younger age group has been exposed to alcohol. If the drinking age was still 0 some younger teenagers would still get alcohol, but there would not be as many because they would not have friends old enough to buy it for them.

The Drug Policy Research Centre in the USA says, "…that attempts to control teen alcohol consumption should focus less on prevention of initiation or any use and more on prevention of misuse." One of the many concerns is the long-term health issues like having a stroke at an early age and serious liver damage. Another concern is memory loss and constant tiredness. Alcohol attacks the heart's efficiency at pumping blood through the kidneys, which normally filter excess salt and water out of the blood. The blood volume can rise and cause a fatal back up of fluid in the lungs.

Lots of teenagers feel that they need to drink in social situations, where they feel uncomfortable and are not confident. Alcohol helps to relax the drinker and also helps them to be less self-conscious so they let loose and behave more sociably.

Having a drink in a social situation is acceptable but the drinker needs to know when they have had enough. They don't need to drink a lot just so they can get drunk. Excess alcohol does not wear off in a couple of hours; it takes a long time for the body to get back to normality. Teenagers are at risk of alcoholic poisoning because their bodies are not ready for large quantities of alcohol. If people were introduced to alcohol at a young age in a socially controlled situation it would be accepted as a normal part of life and the need to binge drink would be reduced.

Young people get influenced to drink in a lot of very different ways. Advertisements send messages to young people that alcohol is fun. Many of the advertisements have humour and show that people can have a lot of fun with alcohol and come up with fun things to do. It is not just ads on TV, it is also advertisements on billboards with catch phrases, which make teenagers think that their brand is cool and want to start drinking that particular brand. I don't think that the companies making those ads know that they are getting through to young people and just think they are getting to legal adults.

But whatever you do young teens are still going to get alcohol - one way or another.

Alcohol doesn't have to be a problem; it has been a part of society since the beginning of time!

Macbeth is presented as a mature man of definitely established character, successful in certain fields of activity and enjoying an enviable reputation. We must not conclude, there, that all his volitions and actions are predictable; Macbeths character, like any other mans at a given moment, is what is being made out of potentialities plus environment, and no one, not even Macbeth himself, can know all his inordinate self-love whose actions are discovered to be-and no doubt have been for a long time-determined mainly by an inordinate desire for some temporal or mutable good.

Macbeth is actuated in his conduct mainly by an inordinate desire for worldly honors; his delight lies primarily in buying golden opinions from all sorts of people. But we must not, therefore, deny him an entirely human complexity of motives. For example, his fighting in Duncans service is magnificent and courageous, and his evident joy in it is traceable in art to the natural pleasure which accompanies the explosive expenditure of prodigious physical energy and the euphoria which follows. He also rejoices no doubt in the success which crowns his efforts in battle - and so on. He may even conceived of the proper motive which should energize back of his great deed

The service and the loyalty I owe,

In doing it, pays itself.

But while he destroys the kings enemies, such motives work but dimly at best and are obscured in his consciousness by more vigorous urges. In the main, as we have said, his nature violently demands rewards he fights valiantly in order that he may be reported in such terms a valours minion and Bellonas bridegroom he values success because it brings spectacular fame and new titles and royal favor heaped upon him in public. Now so long as these mutable goods are at all commensurate with his inordinate desires - and such is the case, up until he covets the kingship - Macbeth remains an honorable gentleman. He is not a criminal; he has no criminal tendencies. But once permit his self-love to demand a satisfaction which cannot be honorably attained, and he is likely to grasp any dishonorable means to that end which may be safely employed. In other words, Macbeth has much of natural good in him unimpaired; environment has conspired with his nature to make him upright in all his dealings with those about him. But moral goodness in him is undeveloped and indeed still rudimentary, for his voluntary acts are scarcely brought into harmony with ultimate end.

As he returns from victorious battle, puffed up with self-love which demands ever-increasing recognition of his greatness, the demonic forces of evil-symbolized by the Weird Sisters-suggest to his inordinate imagination the splendid prospect of attaining now the greatest mutable good he has ever desired. These demons in the guise of witches cannot read his inmost thoughts, but from observation of facial expression and other bodily manifestations they surmise with comparative accuracy what passions drive him and what dark desires await their fostering. Realizing that he wishes the kingdom, they prophesy that he shall be king. They cannot thus compel his will to evil; but they do arouse his passions and stir up a vehement and inordinate apprehension of the imagination, which so perverts the judgment of reason that it leads his will toward choosing means to the desired temporal good. Indeed his imagination and passions are so vivid under this evil impulse from without that nothing is but what is not; and his reason is so impeded that he judges, These solicitings cannot be evil, cannot be good. Still, he is provided with so much natural good that he is able to control the apprehensions of his inordinate imagination and decides to take no step involving crime. His autonomous decision not to commit murder, however, is not in any sense based upon moral grounds. No doubt he normally shrinks from the unnaturalness of regicide; but he so far ignores ultimate ends that, if he could perform the deed and escape its consequences here upon this bank and shoal of time, held jump the life to come. Without denying him still a complexity of motives - as kinsman and subject he may possibly experience some slight shade of unmixed loyalty to the King under his roof-we may even say that the consequences which he fears are not at all inward and spiritual, It is to be doubted whether he has ever so far considered the possible effects of crime and evil upon the human soul-his later discovery of horrible ravages produced by evil in his own spirit constitutes part of the tragedy. Hi is mainly concerned, as we might expect, with consequences involving the loss of mutable goods which he already possesses and values highly.

After the murder of Duncan, the natural good in him compels the acknowledgment that, in committing the unnatural act, he has filed his mind and has given his eternal jewel, the soul, into the possession of those demonic forces which are the enemy of mankind. He recognizes that the acts of conscience which torture him are really expressions of that outraged natural law, which inevitably reduced him as individual to the essentially human. This is the inescapable bond that keeps him pale, and this is the law of his own natural from whose exactions of devastating penalties he seeks release

Come, seeling night...

And with thy bloody and invisible hand Cancel and tear to pieces that great bond Which keeps me pale.

He conceives that quick escape from the accusations of conscience may possibly be effected by utter extirpation of the precepts of natural law deposited in his nature. And he imagines that the execution of more bloody deeds will serve his purpose. Accordingly, then, in the interest of personal safety and in order to destroy the essential humanity in himself, he instigates the murder of Banquo.

But he gains no satisfying peace because hes conscience still obliges him to recognize the negative quality of evil and the barren results of wicked action. The individual who once prized mutable goods in the form of respect and admiration from those about him, now discovers that even such evanescent satisfactions are denied him

And that which should accompany old age, As honor, love, obedience, troops of friends, I must not look to have; but, in their stead, Curses, not loud but deep, mouth-honour, breath, Which the poor heart would fain deny, and dare not.

But the man is conscious of a profound abstraction of something far more precious that temporal goods. His being has shrunk to such little measure that he has lost his former sensitiveness to good and evil; he has supped so full with horrors and the disposition of evil is so fixed in him that nothing can start him. His conscience is numbed so that he escapes the domination of fears, and such a consummation may indeed be called a sort of peace. But it is not entirely what expected or desires. Back of his tragic volitions is the ineradicable urge toward that supreme contentment which accompanies and rewards fully actuated being; the peace which he attains is psychologically a callousness to pain and spiritually a partial insensibility to the evidences of diminished being. His peace is the doubtful calm of utter negativity, where nothing matters.

This spectacle of spiritual deterioration carried to the point of imminent dissolution arouses in us, however, a curious feeling of exaltation. For even after the external and internal forces of evil have done their worst, Macbeth remains essentially human and his conscience continues to witness the diminution of his being. That is to say, there is still left necessarily some natural good in him; sin cannot completely deprive him of his rational nature, which is the root of his inescapable inclination to virtue. We do not need Hecate to tell us that he is but a wayward son, spiteful and wrathful, who, as other do, loves for his own ends. This is apparent throughout the drama; he never sins because, like the Weird Sisters, he loves evil for its own sake; and whatever he does is inevitably in pursuance of some apparent good, even though that apparent good is only temporal of nothing more that escape from a present evil. At the end, in spite of shattered nerves and extreme distraction of mind, the individual passes out still adhering admirably to his code of personal courage, and the mans conscience still clearly admonishes that he has done evil.

Moreover, he never quite loses completely the liberty of free choice, which is the supreme bonum naturae of mankind. But since a wholly free act is one in accordance with reason, in proportion as his reason is more and more blinded by inordinate apprehension of the imagination and passions of the sensitive appetite, his volitions become less and less free. And this accounts for our feeling, toward the end of the drama, that his actions are almost entirely determined and that some fatality is compelling him to his doom. This compulsion is in no sense from without-though theologians may at will interpret it so-as if some god, like Zeus in Greek tragedy, were dealing out punishment for the breaking of divine law. It is generated rather from within, and it is not merely a psychological phenomenon. Precepts of the natural law-imprints of the eternal law- deposited in his nature have been violated, irrational acts have established habits tending to further irrationality, and one of the penalties exacted is dire impairment of the liberty of free choice. Thus the Fate which broods over Macbeth may be identified with that disposition inherent in created things, in this case the fundamental motive principle of human action, by which providence knits all things in their proper order. Macbeth cannot escape entirely from his proper order; he must inevitably remain essentially human.

As a reluctant candidate for President in 176, Jefferson came within three votes of election. Republican electors, trying to name both a President and a Vice President from their own party, cast a tie vote between Jefferson and Aaron Burr of which the House of Representatives settled. Hamilton, who did not like Jefferson and Burr, however urged Jeffersons election. In Jefferson's inaugural speech, he held out an olive branch to his political enemies, inviting them to bury the partnership of the past decade, to unite now as Americans. Within the duration of the Jeffersonian presidency, there were more than a few important issues and decisions. The most important of them being the division of the two political parties, the Louisiana Purchase, and his choice to only take two terms of presidency. These incidences proved significance because of the repercussions and events that followed.

When sharp political conflicts developed, two separate parties, the Federalists and the Democratic-Republicans began to form. Jefferson gradually assumed leadership of the Republicans, who sympathized with the revolutionary cause in France. Attacking Federalist policies, he opposed a strong centralized Government and championed the rights of states. This division of parties changed politics forever.

Early in 180, Jefferson sent James Monroe to Paris with the instructions to buy New Orleans and whatever amount of surplus land with the strict budget of $10 Million. Jefferson said, "The day that France takes possession of New Orleans we must marry ourselves to the British fleet and nation." Napoleon chose to sell Louisiana for $15 million to Monroe and Minister Robert R. Livingston along with his dream of a New World dominion. Believing that America would unite with England, his decision to sell was heavily influenced by his hate for England and his desire for them to be eventually defeated by the New World. This purchase affirmed the needed western expansion of America.
